TECH2MATCH is a 5 ETCS blended learning course designed to enhance the digital and technological competencies of healthcare students and professionals when interacting with individuals experiencing pain. The course consists of an Introduction to Pain/Technology unit and four Technology-specific units: Virtual Reality, Mobile Applications, Telehealth, and Monitoring.

Each technology unit contains a basic part and an advanced part. The basic part is a free-to-use Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), where all learning activities are placed on the lower steps of Bloom’s Taxonomy (Remember, Understand, Apply). The advanced part covers learning activities on higher steps of Bloom’s taxonomy pyramid (Apply, Analyze, Evaluate, Create).

TECH2MATCH is designed to be flexible, allowing you, as a lecturer or each higher education institution, to combine different course units to fit your specific purpose or needs.

MOOC Basic is 2.5 ETCS of which introduction is 1 ETCS and each tech unit is 0.375 ETCS. The advanced part is 2.5 ETCS of which each unit is 0.625 ETCS.

Course Learning Outcomes

The following list outlines the learning outcomes of the course, encompassing theoretical understanding, practical skills, and critical reflection.

Reflective Practice-based Learning is the overall learning approach

This blended learning course applied Reflective Practice-based Learning (RPL) as an umbrella concept for the planning and organizing of all teaching and learning activities in TECH2MATCH.

By grounding the course in RPL, learning activities in TECH2MATCH aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice, enabling students to develop the analytical skills essential for informed clinical decision-making. In Reflective Practice Learning, the relationship between theory and practice is understood as fundamentally dialectical, meaning that theory and practice are distinct yet mutually dependent. Throughout the documents describing the course units, the application of RPL is described in relation to the learning activities.

You can visit the links below for a short webinar on the pedagogical principles of RPL, or for more extensive reading on RPL, with examples of the fundamental pedagogical principles of Reflective Practice Learning, which was used in TECH2MATCH. Furthermore, TECH2MATCH developed frameworks for the planning of both blended learning activities and real-life scenarios. For more information, please refer to the resource database below.

Share TECH2MATCH MOOC with your students

As a lecturer, you can easily integrate TECH2MATCH’s free online courses into your teaching. To ensure your students access only the learning content – and not the teaching guides on this page – you can guide them directly to the course material in iMooX.

Use this link to share the MOOC with your students: https://imoox.at/series/tech2match (the courses can be found at the bottom of the page).

Additional resources

Resources relevant to the advanced learning activities and other material related to the project can be accessed here.

If you are searching for resources related to an advanced learning activity in one of the technology-specific units, then access the resource database, use the learning activity number and the name of the unit to locate the resource that you need, for example, 1.1.7 (number) + Mobile application (unit).
